How to build a swipe file worth keeping
What you’ll be able to do: Keep a swipe file you actually use, organised into collections that map to real work.
Save from the ad itself
When an ad is worth keeping, save it directly from the ad. It goes to Saved Ads in your Library with the creative, the copy and the context intact — not as a screenshot that loses everything the moment you close the tab.
The free plan holds 10 saved ads. Pro holds 100.
Collections are the part that makes it survive
A flat list of saved ads becomes unusable at about thirty items. Collections are named groups, and they are what turns a pile into a reference.
Free includes 2 collections, Pro includes 20 — enough to run a collection per client, or per campaign, or per angle.
Organise by problem, not by brand
This is the single decision that determines whether you ever reopen the file. Most people organise by brand, which is useless later — you do not sit down to work and think "I need a Nike ad". You think "I need a hook for a product nobody has heard of".
Organise by the job instead:
- Hooks that work with no brand awareness
- Ads that make a boring product interesting
- Offers that justify a premium price
- Creative that survived more than ninety days
Named that way, a collection answers a question you will genuinely have.
Save the winners, not the pretty ones
The temptation is to save beautiful creative. Beauty is not the signal. Before saving, check how long the ad has been running — an ordinary-looking ad that has survived four months is worth more to you than a gorgeous one launched last week.
Frequently asked questions
- How many ads can I save?
- The free plan saves 10 ads across 2 collections. Pro saves 100 ads across 20 collections.
- What is a collection?
- A collection is a named group of saved ads — for example one per client, per campaign, or per creative angle. Collections are what stop a swipe file becoming an unsorted pile.
- Do saved ads disappear when the advertiser stops running them?
- Your saved ad keeps the creative and copy you saved, so the reference survives in your library even after the advertiser switches the ad off.
